Kachamba’s nephew sets out to train kids

Singer and guitarist Adam Kamba, who is a nephew to iconic musician Daniel Kachamba, has said he wants to play a role in creating foundations for music growth in the country by imparting skills in children.

Speaking last Thursday following his performance at the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session at Alliance Francaise de Blantyre, Kamba said he had already made headway in teaching kids music.

“Children are the foundation; we need to reach out to them with skills and, as a musician, I am happy with the strides I have made this far because a number of kids I am training are playing instruments,” he said.

Kamba also said he was in the studio working on an album and that, resources permitting, he intended to release it later this year.

“I played one of the new songs apart from songs done by Dr Daniel Kachamba. So, I am working on an album. I am excited to do this and, more importantly, to continue elevating the legacy of Dr Daniel and Donald Kachamba,” he said. Meanwhile, musician Goma Nyondo is expected to perform at the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session tomorrow.
