The third edition of Martse Memorial show will this year be held at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on May 24.
The memorial show, which celebrates the life of rapper Martse, real name Martin Nkhata, will this year bring on board 15 artists.
Organisers of the memorial show, Martse Foundation, said yesterday that the number of artists had been reduced to 15 this year in order to give the artists more time for performances.
Martse Foundation spokesperson Uchizi Nkhata said preparations for this year’s event were at an advanced stage.
“We look forward to having a well-executed event to celebrate the life of Martse, who contributed immensely to the growth of music in the country,” Nkhata said.
In addition, Nkhata said, apart from celebrating Martse’s life, the memorial is held to sustain the rapper’s vision and impact by supporting education initiatives.
The memorial show has in the previous two editions raised funds for a desk initiative that has benefitted schools in Mangochi, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
This time around, the memorial show is seeking to raise funds to buy desks that will be donated to schools in the Southern Region.
Some of the artists billed to perform at this year’s memorial show include Fredokiss, Lulu, Morale the Rapper, Malceba, Chizmo, Provoice, Veda, BlackaFella, Sean Morgan and Wikise.
Martse, famed for songs such as ‘Go Deeper’ and ‘Adidas’ and his popular signature ‘Too Ghetto Too Gutter’, died in 2022.
