Nollywood actor, comedian, movie director and producer Charles Inojie has said that Africa needs to work together in developing its film industry and strive to tell its authentic stories.

Inojie, who has starred in lots of films including Aki and Pawpaw, said this on Friday in Lilongwe during the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Film Association of Malawi (Fama) and three Nollywood actors.

Apart from Inojie, the other actors are , Nkiru Sylvanus and Charles Awurum. The veteran actor said Malawian stories need to be told attractively by Malawians. “We acknowledge the support from Prophet Shepherd Bushiri through his foundation for this collaboration. We are looking forward to work together and we hope to produce more quality films,” he said. Fama led by Dorothy Kingston has teamed up with the three Nollywood

actors as part of boosting the local film industry. Bushiri, who is the leader of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG), said he will continue helping the movie industry through Fama. “This partnership between Fama and the Nigerian actors has come at the right time. We want them to share their skills with local players here.

It is only through sharing and learning from each other that the film industry can develop. We want more stories from Malawi to be told professionally,” Bushiri said. Prophet Bushiri, who has shown his commitment to helping the creative industry in the country also handed over K40 million to Fama fulfilling a pledge he made recently. Kingston, who has been on the move since she assumed the leadership of the film association, thanked Bushiri for fulfilling his promise.

“The K40 million means more to us as Fama and it will go a long way to helping us come up with top projects. We would to thank Prophet Shepherd Bushiri for fulfilling his promises of the funds as well bringing the Nigerian actors,” she said.

Kingston, wife to renowned musician Zeze, also thanked Bushiri for his plan to partner with Netflix to feature Malawian films. Last year, Bushiri through his Shepherd Bushiri Foundation also signed a movie production agreement with another renowned Nigerian actor and comedian Nkem Owoh popularly known as Ukwa. It is not yet clear as to whether the Nkem Owoh deal has started reaping the rewards.
