The second edition of Miss Heritage Malawi is expected to be held on April 5 this year at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre, with 10 contestants ready to shrug it off.
Miss Heritage Malawi Chief Executive Officer and National Director Maddie Yusuf said on Sunday all was set for the competition, whose current holder is Mwai Khupe.
“We are almost done with everything. We are getting a lot of support from various players. The camp for the girls starts on April 1,” she said.
Yusuf said they had made strides with Miss Heritage Malawi as they were giving girls the platform to showcase the country’s heritage.
“Before we started the events, we sent two models to participate in Nigeria and South Africa. Last year, we could not host it because of other challenges beyond our control,” she said.
Yusuf said to select the girls, they use interviews as well as scrutinise videos which are sent to them. They also look at academic background, Yusuf said.
“We had 46 [people] that applied. We selected 10 at first but three dropped out since we had a gap of a year,” Yusuf said.
