Ladies tea event set for Dec 15

A Bridgerton themed Ladies’ networking tea event will be held on December 15 2024 in Blantyre.

The event, led by Famida Daud Aly, who is the founder of The Battle of Chefs Africa Cooking competition and Family Food Festival, is set to give women a platform to engage.

Aly said they would treat attendees to food and entertainment among others.

“The motivation behind the ladies networking tea is lack of platforms available for ladies with influence to collaborate and use their influence to empower more women,” she said.

Aly said ladies are capable of helping each other “so, this platform is made to bring them out and gather together”.

“We aim to help ladies break out of their shells to share ideas and voice their concerns and solutions. By networking, a lot can be shared and created, not forgetting having fun,” she said.

The Bridgerton theme of the event was chosen as a nod to the popular Netflix series Bridgerton, which was inspired by the book series of the same name.

The series tells the story of a powerful family during the Regency era of British history.

Aly said the theme was picked because that period was the one when women struggled to be themselves.

Meanwhile, the last Family Food Festival for the year is expected to be held in Lilongwe on November 30 2024 with The Battle of Chefs slated for January 2025.

The contest will bring on board chefs from Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.

“We also have on the cards four Family Food festivals in Blantyre and four Family Food festivals in Lilongwe,” Aly said.
