FCB Nyasa Big Bullets mentor Kalisto Pasuwa has complained about his teams’ tendency of failing to deal with set pieces, a development that has seen his charges conceding 11 goals from nine matches.

Pasuwa said the problem contributed to his team’s failure to defend the TNM Super League title this season.

“We have dropped important points both in the league and in some cup games this season. We are trying to fix the problem at the training every week.

“We also have tried using different combinations at the back but, still, we face the problem in most games. This is our major worry,” Pasuwa said before applauding his team’s defence’s performance against leaders Silver Strikers on Saturday in a goalless draw.

According to our records, Bullets conceded such goals in the team’s 2-1 win over Baka City before dropping maximum points against Karonga United in the 2-1 loss.

The People’s Team also conceded three set piece goals against rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the TNM Super league where they drew 1-1 in the first round and won 2-1 against the Lali Lubani Road side in the second round.

Bullets have failed to defend the league title and the FDH Bank Cup.

Currently, they are remaining with the Castel Cup to defend after they won a quadruple last season.

Bullets National Supporters Chairperson Stone Mwamadi advised Pasuwa to concentrate on finishing strongly and defending the Castel Challenge Cup.

“It is good that the coach knows the problem and he is trying to address it. He has been trying different players and now we seem to be taking the right direction,” Mwamadi said Ndirande Township-based Bullets fan Khomani Chamwamba said the side had chances to win the league this season but lost some precious points through conceding from set pieces.

“We would have won the league again but, in the middle of the season, we were jittery at the back,” he said.

Bullets have conceded 17 goals, three more than both Silver and Wanderers, who are on position one and two, respectively.

They have also scored the least number of goals— 32 from 26 games, with the Central Bankers scoring 50 goals while the Nomads have scored 52 from the same number of games.

Bullets will face Civil Service United tomorrow at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
