Youthful musician Guntolah real name Abdurashid Maloko has dared fellow young people to think outside the box if they are to excel and remain relevant in society.
The artist using his talent has since come out to help fellow young people to connect them to jobs using an online recruitment app where among others, people book permanent and temporary works.
Calling it a movement that is there to provide youths with employment, Guntolah on Saturday organised a session at Kanjedza in Blantyre in a programme whose goal is to create 1000 jobs for youths this year.
“This session we had on Saturday, is the first attempt. We are looking for 200 technicians (20 for each category) which is welding, carpentry, bricklaying, electrical installation, plumbing and spray painting among others,” he said.
Guntolah said the recruitment app they have fashioned is called Pamgodi and that through it, they receive demand of different works including technical jobs.
According to Guntolah, they depend on proposing contract based works and permanent works in different companies.
“But mainly we are planning to introduce lay-bye works as we believe community is in need of technical works but money is the biggest problem therefore, we will be able to provide them the service and allow them to pay in installment,” he said.
Guntolah, who is also a marketer said in this way they are helping to develop the community while making use of the skills that is out there and not being utilised.
“So, we have started in Blantyre because it is where we are based and where we can manage to handle operations but we are willing to grow if we get more resources,” he said.
Guntolah described the initiative as an open ground for opportunities any organisation, individuals and companies are welcome to participate or contribute any value.
“As an artist I am using my influence to impact the youth and make a change because this whole programme is being communicated through my Facebook page Guntolah Iweyoo,” he said.
The artist said he is not new to such initiatives revealing that he has been doing it through social media.
“On Facebook, I teach free business classes to youths and it is really changing people’s lives. So, those who have patronised my page they know I have the capacity with my knowledge level,” he said.
Meanwhile, Guntolah has said he plans to release back to back singles followed by a joint album with K Banton.
“Last year I was not patronising shows because I was busy helping other artists like Jetu and Abebu in the background but there is more this year,” he said.
