Kenya-based filmmaker Grace Kahaki Munthali is as busy as a bee.
She said she was involved in a number of projects, notably the Kash Money series.
Munthali said on Thursday that she was excited to be part of the Kash Money series. The series will be airing on Netflix on January 31 2025.
“Kash Money is a series created and directed by myself and Philippe Bresson. It is produced by our production company Insignia Productions.
“Having it seen globally is a dream come true after all these years of grinding. It feels amazing,” she said.
Munthali has been producing and directing television series and movies in Nairobi, Kenya, since 2011.
“I have two series that are Showmax originals named Singles Kiasi, which was Showmax’s most highest viewed drama series in 2024 (an adaptation of the South African series Unmarried) and Chocolate Empire (an adaptation of the South African series Rockville),” she said.
She said she was passionate about filmmaking.
“I love what I do and this is an amazing work. I am happy to tell stories and also take part in shaping filmmaking in Africa,” Munthali said.
In her journey, Munthali has won the Best Television Drama Director at the Women in Film Awards 2023 and Best Director at the Kalasha Awards and the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Daughter to sports administrator Chimango Munthali, she said she wanted to break boundaries and conquer with her filmmaking exploits.
Her father said he was happy to see the daughter making inroads in the world of filmmaking.
“It is exciting to see her making headway in filmmaking and I am even happier to see her directing and producing the Kash Money series, which will premiere on Netflix. This is huge,” he said.
