Capital City side Civil Service United have accepted to let defender Masiya Manda go for K10 million.
This comes after the player penned the club that he wanted to activate his K10 million buyout clause in his contract.
But in a response to the player through his manager Robert Ng’ambi, Civil have given the player consent to buyout his contract which is expected to expire in January next year.
“After thorough consultations, I am pleased to report that we have accepted your proposal to pay the said sum of K10,000,000 (Ten Million Kwacha) as contained in your letter.
“We hope this will be done with urgency so that we can facilitate the process of replacing him,” the letter which has been signed by Civil General Secretary Edgar Chipalanjira, reads.
If Manda buys his contract, he will be allowed to leave the club in the ongoing player transfer window.
Chipalanjira said they were still waiting for a response from the player after granting him his wish.
“We do not want to stand in the players’ way. At the moment, there is nothing from the player and his representative,” he said.
But Ng’ambi was not answering his mobile phone Friday.
The development comes as the player has been linked with three domestic giants Mighty Wanderers, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers.
At this stage, Wanderers are favourites to sign the former Mighty Tigers defender after Bullets claimed they were done on the player transfer market. Silver have reportedly cooled their interest in the player.
Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi hinted at signing two defenders before the season starts.
“We are looking at the possibilities of bringing two defenders. It will depend on the availability of the players,” Ndovi said.
The Nomads, who are interested in taking part in the 2025 Confederation Cup, have already signed three players namely goalkeeper Chancy Mtete from Mzuzu City Hammers, midfielder Nanison Mbewe from Karonga United and striker Promise Kamwendo from Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos.
