Chifundo Mphasi hopeful

Malawian striker Chifundo Mphasi believes Power Dynamos fans in Zambia are yet to see the best from him in the MTN Faz League.

He was reacting after he scored a brace for Dynamos in a 3-1 victory over his former club Kabwe Warriors on Saturday.

“It feels great to score a brace and help the team collect maximum points. It is a source of motivation for me and I will keep on working hard,” Mphasi said.

Mphasi is enjoying a rich vein of form in the league and has started in five consecutive matches for Dynamos.

He opened the scoring in the 16th minute of the match before Austin Muwowo doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the second half. Mphasi completed his brace towards the end of the match.

So far, he has scored three goals and made three assists in five matches.

The victory propelled Dynamos to the top of the league with 48 points from 26 matches, above Zesco United on goal difference.

In a related development, Malawian striker Chawanangwa Kaonga was subbed off in the 29th minute as Zanaco defeated Mutondo Stars 2-1.

His compatriot Robert Saizi sat out the match on the bench.

Elsewhere, the Malawian trio of goalkeeper William Thole, defender Nickson Nyasulu and Vincent Nyangulu made their debuts for their respective Zimbabwe clubs on Saturday.

Thole kept a clean sheet as Zimbabwe defending champions Simba Bhora drew 0-0 with FC Platinum.

Nyasulu started for Platinum whereas Nyangulu was introduced as a second half substitute.

Another Malawian Precious Phiri was an unused substitute.

In South Africa, Frank Gabadinho Mhango was in the starting line-up as Marumo Gallants lost 1-0 to Stellenbosch on Tuesday.
