Chibuku Products Limited through its traditional beer yesterday showed its commitment to supporting the creative sector when it donated K300, 000 to Khulubvi Arts and Cultural Festival ahead of its fourth edition this coming weekend at Nsanje Prison Ground.
One of the members of the organising team for Khulubvi Arts and Cultural Festival, Eric Trinta, who is also the proprietor of Nyamithambo Arts Palace, hailed Chibuku Products for the timely support which apart from the money also includes products and entertainment including presence of musician Njati Njedede.
“We are building this festival to be among the top in the country and so, to start getting corporate support is something positive for us. Chibuku Products have shown that they believe in us. It means they value Shire Valley and its cultural activities,” Trinta said.
He said they want to use the platform as a vessel for developmental issues to do with Shire Valley.
The festival will take place at Nsanje Prison Ground from June 28 to 30 2024.
He said since they started, they have seen changes.
“Lower Shire is beginning to wake up from its slumber and partake in discussions in areas such as education,” Trinta said.
He observed that the country has failed to give room to the creative industry to grow at policy level.
“Arts and culture is a source of development and this is why we have this festival which has so much in it including traditional dances,” Trinta said.
Chibuku Products Limited Sales and Marketing Manager Henry Mbweza, said they align themselves with cultural activities as in brand awareness to allow people appreciate local beer.
“During the festival, we will also avail our van for entertainment,””Mbweza said.
The free of charge festival which this year is running under the theme ‘Time to shine, lets empower our people’, will feature several artists and they include Lucky Stars Band led by Boniface Ndamera, Goma Nyondo, The Jazz Africa Band, Chigo Nyasulu, Wisted Bono popularly known as Chimtengera, John Fire, Agorosso, Nyandoro Nthenga and Lommie Mafunga.
