Bullets keen to keep Babatunde Adepoju

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are determined to keep Nigerian striker Babatunde Adepoju for another season.

Adepoju returned to Bullets in January last year on a one-year loan deal which expired at the end of the 2024 season.

Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga said the club is exploring several options to keep the striker.

’’We are exploring several options in order to keep Babatunde at Bullets. Once we are done exploring, we will make a stand,’’ Chigoga said Wednesday.

Following the expiry of his loan deal, the striker is expected to return to his parent club Venda Football Academy in South Africa.

But Venda have already signed Malawian striker Khuda Muyaba on a six-month contract. The arrival of Muyaba could pave the way for Adepoju to return to Bullets for the third time.

Adepoju was not readily available for his comment Wednesday. Bullets have Hassan Kajoke, Anthony Mfune and Ephraim Kondowe as recognised strikers. Newly appointed Bullets coach Peter Mponda would be willing to bolster his striking force.

Adepoju scored 10 goals in the TNM Super League last season.

The 30-year old signed for Venda at the end of 2022 season but he struggled to establish himself having scored three goals in the Motsepe Foundation National First Division.

He moved to South Africa with good reputation as one of the best strikers in Malawi. During his spells with Bullets, Adepoju won two charity shields, two TNM Super League titles, one Airtel Top 8 and one FDH Bank Cup. He made history as the first player to score eight goals in the 2021 Airtel Top 8 to clinch the Golden Boot award. Additionally, he was named Player of the Tournament.

In 2022, he won the TNM Super League Golden Boot award with 18 goals.
