Blantyre City Presbytery of the CCAP Blantyre Synod gets set for Easter with a parade of the Jesus March starting on April 14 through to April 20 2025. The parade begins at Kameza Roundabout and ends at St Michael CCAP Church.
The march will also have stopovers at key locations including Mbayani, Chemussa and Wenela Bus Depot.
Director of the youth department, Reverend Kiddy Phiri said during a press briefing yesterday that the parade is important in preparing for Easter Week.
Phiri, who also chairs the Jesus March organising committee said they also have gospel musicians on the menu. “We urge young people from all 34 churches under the presbytery to actively participate. We will feature artists such as the Street Praise group,” he said.
Phiri said the parade also aims to deliver a message of hope to the community, encouraging individuals to trust in God as they navigate their daily challenges.
“People are going through a lot these days,” Phiri noted, citing issues such as unemployment, early marriages and substance abuse. He added: “Sometimes it seems that there is no way out. When we come together to share the word of God, sing, and dance for the Lord, we impart hope in Jesus Christ. This parade is vital for spreading that message while we prepare for the upcoming Easter week.”
He said that everyone was welcome for the march including members from other denominations.
