Mighty Wanderers Coach Bob Mpinganjira has chosen Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera and Sherry Msuku as first and second assistant, respectively.

Mpinganjira, who was confirmed as Wanderers coach on a one-year deal last week, was given freedom to choose his backroom staff.

In an interview Thursday, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi confirmed that Mtetemera and Msuku would each sign a one-year contract.

“Both Mtetemera and Msuku have already accepted their new roles. We are now good to go ahead of the new season,” Mtetemera said.

Ndovi said the two assistants were expected to be introduced to the players Thursday.

Apart from Mtetemera and Msuku, Mpinganjira has chosen Wanderers former midfielder Alfred Manyozo and defender Francis Mlimbika as data analyst and fitness trainer, respectively.

Steve Madeira has been maintained as team manager alongside goalkeepers’ trainer Simplex Nthala, with Peter Wadabwa also maintained as strikers’ trainer.

When contacted Thursday, Mtetemera asked for ample time before he could comment on the issue of his appointment.

The former coach for Creck Sporting Club and Chitipa United is expected to add vast experience to the Wanderers technical panel. He helped Chitipa finish fourth in the TNM Super League in 2023.

Msuku was not readily available for his comment yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mpinganjira has said he is looking forward to a new season.

“So far, we have started preparations and the players are eager to impress,” he said.

Mpinganjira was appointed Wanderers coach after helping the team win the 2024 Castel Challenge Cup following a 1-0 victory over Mzuzu City Hammers at Bingu National Stadium in Blantyre.

The Nomads finished second in the TNM Super League last season. They have already signed four players, namely goalkeeper Chancy Mtete from Hammers, defender Masiya Manda from Civil Service United, midfielder Nanison Mbewe from Karonga United and striker Promise Kamwendo from Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos.
