Black Missionaries to spice up Mr. Entertainer’s birthday celeb

Chileka-based reggae group Black Missionaries will on Sunday perform at Scallas Café in Blantyre to spice up seasoned promoter Jai Banda’s 66th birthday celebration.

It is now a routine for Mr. Entertainer, as Banda is known, to have a birthday celebration whose dress code is white.

Mr. Entertainer said on Thursday that he was thankful to God for the gift of life, hence celebrating his birthday in such a way.

“This means more, it has been a long way to be where I am today and, so, it is all about celebrating this walk,” the founder of Entertainers Promotions, who is also a lawyer said.

Apart from Black Missionaries, the birthday party will also bring on board performances from Anthony Mr, Cool Makondetsa, Yanjanani Chumbu, Khozie Masimbe, Moda Fumulani and Makasu Band featuring veteran players such as Peter Likhomo, Collen Ali and Wallace Ngoma.

Black Missionaries lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani said they were set for the birthday celebration and entertain people with reggae vibes off their Kuimba albums.

“People should expect nothing but a great performance from us. Mr Entertainer is a veteran promoter, who has done a lot for the country’s creative sector. We cannot talk about music in Malawi without mentioning Mr Jai Banda. He has taken Malawi music industry to another level,” Anjiru said.

The reggae outfit, widely known as Ma Blacks, which is gearing up to release new songs this year, will perform at Mr. Entertainer’s birthday party barely a day after starring at Club 24/7 at a Pre-Valentine concert.
