Skuva Fashions, which has outfitted a number of players in the creative sector, on Saturday celebrated its 10th anniversary at MDC Stadium in Blantyre.
Dubbed A Decade of Fashions, the event failed to hit the ground in the afternoon, as initially scheduled, following rains. But it resumed late on, with performances, featuring both established and budding artists, running all the way into the night.
There were some disruptions during the celebrations and they included power interruptions. These were not enough to halt the show. It was an event that had no live bands, with DJs, who included Flame and Triple, holding the keys to artists’ performances.
Hosted by The Times Group presenter Che Kalonda, among others, the organisers made sure that all artists that were on the lineup performed.
Some of the artists that starred at the event included Phyzix, Hyphen, Crispy Malawi, Classick, Ice Mw, Blackah Fellah and Massavega, Quest Mw, Deo Cruger and Reggae Soul Sisters.
Phyzix, popularly known as Gamba, said he was happy to perform at the event as part of supporting Skuva Fashions, led by Bright Skuva Mitepa.
“I enjoyed every moment of it. The audience was lively. I had to come and support Skuva Fashions in their 10th anniversary celebration. This is a brand that has supported several artists and I am one of them,” the rapper said.
Mitepa, who also performed, hailed people for showing up for the celebration.
“We would have started activities in good time if not for the rains but rains are always a blessing. So, we thank God for that. That said, the show went on and I am thankful to all the artists for the support they provided to us,” he said.
The event also saw Fredokiss making a special appearance. He managed to serve two songs Before he left the stage, he briefly invited to the stage his brother and award-winning artist Onesimus, who attracted a delirium of cheers from the audience. However, Onesimus, better known as African Butter, did not perform.
Wikise performed late on, offering a number of tracks, including the song that put him in the limelight ‘Chikamphulikire’.
