Fifteen models on Saturday booked tickets to the grand finale of the Mzinda Lifestyle Fashion following their exciting display at the elimination show.
Held at Kigali Events Centre in Lilongwe, the elimination show featured 25 models from across the country. They modelled in a variety of designs, mostly classic wear, from five designers.
The 15 models will battle it out with 10 models from other countries, during at the grand finale slated for June 1 2025 at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
Spearheaded by Mzinda Lifestyle Premium, the judging panel of the elimination show included Fashion Association of Malawi leader Zikani Nyirenda, Miss Malawi organiser Godfrey Kambewa and promoter Filly Wyth.
Mzinda Lifestyle Manager Chris Daka said the elimination show exceeded expectations. “It has been such a walk for the models, starting with auditions.
This is all about bringing quality and we have set high standards,” Daka said. He said they were looking forward to the grand finale, which will attract both local and international designers.
“This is all about promoting modelling and fashion in the country,” Daka said. Blantyre-based model Rose Phiri, who has made it, described her triumph as a game changer. “This is my f irst time participating in runway modeling. I usually do pageantry. “This time, I wanted to try something different,” Phiri said.
Other models that have made it through among the 15 include Miss Culture Dzaleka Shakira Phillimon, Monalisa Kafuwa, Mwai Muwalo, Mestay Chipeta and Yemisi Mzoma. The elimination show was spiced up by performances from Maggie Kadrum and Move Band.
