World Boxing Forum former welterweight champion Agness Mtimaukanena endured a bad outing on Christmas Box when she lost to Leila Yusuph Macho on points at Super Dome Arena in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Thursday.
During the six-round non-title super middleweight bout, Mtimaukanena lacked strong punches to win the contest.
In contrast her opponent kept releasing a flurry of punches to be in control of the fight.
Mtimaukanena conceded defeat but declined that the loss has nothing to do with upgrading to a bigger weight division.
“It was a good fight being the only female contest of the night. I am comfortable with this weight class (super middleweight). I have learnt some things and I hope to bounce back strongly,” Mtimaukanena said.
The Malawian last fought in April last year when she defeated Lucy Macho on unanimous points at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences Sports Complex.
