Play explores diverse themes

Raise the Level Arts on Easter Sunday premiered a play titled Play explores diverse themes Criminal 265 at Madsoc Theatre in Lilongwe.

Written and directed by Blessings Linje, the interactive play explores themes of betrayal, dark secrets, corruption and consequences of mistakes.

It tells the story of the Zenera family’s secrets, beginning with Rhoda Zenera’s arrest, exposing dark family secrets involving the victim, Biswick Misonde, who shares a hidden past with the Zeneras.

A detective is later tasked with unraveling the mystery surrounding the Zenera and Misonde families. Linje said they were happy to premiere the production.

“The response from the audience was positive and we are looking forward to more performances,” he said.

Madsoc Theatre’s Producer and Creative Consultant Hazel Musochera commended the theatre group for staging the production.

“We are happy about our Theatre Roots Development project that provides free venue, technical support, among others, because it is giving young artists the platform to showcase their skills,” Musochera said.

National Schools Arts Festival Artistic Producer Shafiq Kalumo hailed the theatre group for tackling societal issues through arts.

Apart from Linje, other actors that starred in the play included Spencer Leffu, Ingaple Pascaline, Ramiezwata Malasha, Clara Jere, Prince Tamani, Monalisah Mbewe, Azizah Tchuwa, Angel Kafuwa, Author Kaliwo, Lincy Munthali and Maureen Bwanali.
