Rapper Phyzix of the ‘Cholapitsa’ and ‘Wife Material’ fame has established a foundation known as Phyzix Cares Foundation.
The artist, who is also Musicians Union of Malawi (Mum) Southern Chapter Chairperson, said the foundation would be focusing on community development activities.
Phyzix said the non-profit organisation would concentrate on activities such as youth development, education, health and orphan and elderly care.
“I grew up in a family where my mother was always giving back to the community. I learned from her example and, now, I want to leave a lasting legacy by supporting those in need, in addition to showcasing my music talent,” he said.
Phyzix said he had already set his sights on organising activities.
“The first task is organising a music show where the proceeds will go towards supporting an orphanage so that it, too, can celebrate Christmas,” he said.
The rapper said apart from holding concerts, he would also be mobilising donations from well-wishers.
Phyzix is this weekend holding Phyzix Birthday bashes at Blues Bar and Restaurant in Blantyre and Game Complex in Lilongwe.
The foundation has already gained support from partners such as Hallmark Creations Limited.
The firm’s managing director Gift Gondwe said their partnership with Phyzix Cares Foundation was in line with the company’s goals.
“Our company believes in corporate social investment by giving back to those that support and live with us,” Gondwe said.
