Award-winning musician Onesimus said on Tuesday he intends to utilise his music talent to engage in charity work this year.
The artist said this on Monday after he joined Mai Mbambande Foundation, a charity organisation that focuses on the elderly.
The organisation fed the needy at a dumpsite in Lilongwe. “It felt good for me to feed people at the dumpsite and also have fun,” Onesimus, popularly known as African Butter, said.
He said he learnt a lot of lessons from his interaction with the people, including children, at the dumpsite.
“I felt happy to learn that many of them enjoy my music. I listened to their stories and they listened to my stories too. I feel I need to do more of these charity initiatives. I, as musician and artist, have a role to play to reach out to the needy,” Onesimus said. Apart from interacting with people at the dumpsite, Onesimus interacted with the elderly at Mai Mbambande Foundation.
“I learnt a lot of lessons at Mai Mbambande and one of them is that it is possible for young people to grow old and enjoy life,” he said.
The artist, who is trending with his newest track ‘Tabwera’, said his interaction with the elderly was special in that they gave him advice and prayed for him Mai Mbambande Foundation, led by Deborah Mbale, hailed Onesimus for choosing to feed children at the dumpsite. “
The children danced and were more than happy because they had freshly made food and fun,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
