Basking in the glory of bagging a number of awards last year, musician Onesimus popularly known as African Butter has started 2025 on a high note receiving two nominations in the Young Achievers African Awards.
The artist, who sparked with his track ‘Controller’ last year, has received nominations in the categories of Best Young Achiever Music Video of the Year and Best Young Achiever Artist of the Year.
The awards ceremony will take place in April in Kigali, Rwanda.
“2025 has started on a great note. We have received two nominations from Rwanda,” he wrote on his social media page.
It is the same romantic track ‘Controller’, which has earned him the two nominations.
“I am grateful for the nominations, it is a blessing to be acknowledged among Africa’s finest talents,” he said indicating that he will attend the event to represent Malawi.
His manager Tonderai Banda said he was excited about starting the year on a solid note.
“Last year was nice to us and we are looking forward to another great time this year,” Banda said.
Young Achievers African Awards recognises and inspires young people aged 18-45 to achieve great things and make a difference in their communities.
Last year Onesimus came out top in the Maso Awards where he bagged the Best Artist of the Year and Song of the Year accolades.
The artist also collected the Song of the Year Award for ‘Controller’ in the Music Video Africa Awards (MVAA) 2024 in Nigeria, Male Artist Award at the Hapa Awards in Tanzania and Best Star Artist of the Year Award in South Africa.
