Malawi Senior Men’s National Cricket Team continued with its impressive start in the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifiers-A after convincingly beating Mali in Tanzania Tuesday.
Malawi chased down Mali’s target with ease, scoring 44/1 in just 3.1 overs.
Suhail Zahid Vayani was instrumental for Malawi with his incredible bowling performance, taking four wickets for just eight runs in four-overs.
According to ICC Africa WhatsApp Group Media, Suhail’s outstanding spell led Malawi to a dominant win over Mali in the qualifiers.
He was consequently named player of the match.
On Sunday, Malawi defeated Ghana by 25 runs, with Sami Sohail being named player of the match after contributing 64 runs.
Malawi started its campaign on Saturday with a 93 runs victory over Lesotho.
The senior men’s team will face Cameroon today before concluding the group stages with a tie against Tanzania Thursday.
Cricket Malawi Head of Cricket Operations Arjun Menon said they are confident that the team will continue with its winning start to achieve their mission.
“We should not get carried away with our form. We really need to put an extra gear,” Menon said.
