The Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services (DRTSS) has procured one hundred breathalyzers and accompanying mouthpieces to enhance enforcement against drunk driving.
According to the DRTSS, this initiative is part of broader enforcement activities aimed at ensuring compliance with road traffic rules and safeguarding all road users.
In an interview with MIJ Online Larry Chewere, Chief Road Transport Officer at the DRTSS, stated that the procurement of ten speed traps is also underway to regulate the road transport industry through law enforcement, policy development and sustainable road transport system.
Chewere revealed that the funding for these procurements is provided by the World Bank through the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project.
