Mzuzu International Academy president and founder Anna Msowoya Keys has stressed the importance of schools sharing knowledge and success stories to enhance quality education in Malawi.

She said this on Friday during the institution’s graduation ceremony for its year six leavers at the school’s premises in Mzuzu.

Keys said instead of competing, top-performing schools should learn from each other, recognising that each school has strengths and weaknesses.

Keys: Instead of competing, learn from each other

She said: “No matter how good we are, Mzuzu Academy is not going to take all the kids in the country to come and learn here, but we can share what is going well here for others to emulate.

“So, the time has come for Malawian schools to share knowledge and experiences to enhance education and a quality future for our children.”

Keys further highlighted the importance of talent identification and nurturing at the institution, saying beyond academic excellence, children who are good at sports, drama, and other areas are encouraged to pursue their dreams.

“This is why we have several awards categories here such as the well-behaved and well-dressed student,” she said.

In his address, the academy’s principal Stefano Piumatti encouraged graduating students to continue their academic journey in Year Seven through to Year Eleven at the institution, saying Mzuzu Academy is working hard to be one of the best schools in the country.

During the event, learners received certificates, marking their completion of primary education while  the best students got various awards.

Mzuzu International Academy was established as a co-educational school for international and Malawian families and aims to educate the whole child, focusing on academic success, personal development, and lifelong skills.
