King James Phiri back with 5th album

Gospel musician Apostle King James Phiri has resurfaced with his fifth album titled Chipulumutso Ndi Wekha.

The 10-track album will be launched at Robin’s Park in Blantyre on New Year in a concert dubbed New Year Gospel Bash.

“I have done it deliberately to launch it on January 1 2025 because I want to celebrate with people the New Year. We just have to welcome the New Year with gospel songs,” he said.

As the headliner, Phiri will share the stage with Favoured Martha, Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers, Daughter of Zion Phalyce Mang’anda, Limbani Simenti, Eliza Mponya, Khama Khwiliro, Milefa Sisters, Pastor Leonard and Francis Khembo and Mable Luwanda.

He said the fifth album is a continuation of the message in his other collections of uplifting the name of the Lord and at the same time ministering His word.

“In whatever challenges we are going through, God will never leave us and this is why we need to look up to Him in everything we do for He will never forsake us,” Phiri said.

He said the platform on January 1 2025 is not just about celebrating the New Year but also praising the Lord for the gift of life.

“The album has the message of salvation and we need not move away from walking with the Lord,” the Blantyre-based musician said.

The album which was recorded at M Studio by Steve Meleka has songs such as ‘Nyengo Zanga Zisintha.’

His other albums to his credit are Amayankha Yesu, Mukumane Ndi Moyo Wanga, Chichitika and Yahweh.
