Kamuzu Barracks aim to break FCB Nyasa Big Bullets 5-year jinx

Kamuzu Barracks and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have contrasting missions when they square up in a TNM Super League match at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe this afternoon.

For KB as Kamuzu Barracks is aliasly known, will be out for revenge, but for Bullets, it will be about returning to winning ways and redeeming their pride.

This sums up the league clash between the sides.

With a battered reputation, stalked by internal squabbles, team bus seizure and recent fracas, with their heads down, Bullets step onto the turf of Civo Stadium hoping for a win.

On the other hand, KB, straight from their goal-less stalemate against Baka City, will be looking for their first win against Bullets in five years.

The KB soldiers last defeated Bullets 1-0 in a league match at the same venue in 2019. Surely, the soldiers have a score to settle against Bullets this afternoon.

In the last six matches, Bullets have won two, three draws and one loss.

Last season, Bullets beat KB 3-2 in the second round after a goal-less stalemate in the first round.

Heading into this afternoon’s match, Bullets have gone three consecutive matches without a win following goal-less stalemate against Moyale Barracks, 1-0 loss to Silver and last week’s 1-1 draw against Creck Sporting Club.

On the other hand, KB are enjoying a rich vein of form despite a goal-less draw against Baka on Monday.

KB coach Charles Kamanga has vowed to rub more salt on Bullets wounds.

“We know that they are struggling but they have a good team. We will show no mercy,” Kamanga said.

The 2016 TNM Super League champions are second on the 16-member log table with 19 points from 10 matches, seven points behind leaders Silver.

Bullets coach Kalisto Pasuwa could be a worried person heading into the tie as his charges have been wasteful this season.

“We need to be patient with what is happening now. Despite creating a lot of chances, we are missing a lot,” the Zimbabwean said.

Bullets are likely to be without Kenyan defender Clyde Senaji due to an injury.

In other matches today, Mzuzu City Hammers will meet Mafco at Mzuzu Stadium whereas Baka host Bangwe All Stars at Karonga Stadium.
