Immigration tricksters arrested in Lilongwe

Immigration officials in Lilongwe have assured passport seekers that the department is actively working to ensure smooth assistance.

This assurance follows the arrest of middlemen by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for swindling service seekers, according to Hillary Chilomba, Acting Director General of the ACB.

Superintendent Alexander Maseko, the Regional Immigration Officer for the Central Region, assured the public that the department will begin processing applications from 2021.

He acknowledged the delays in issuing express passports, which are supposed to be processed within 48 hours.

In the meantime, individuals who have illegally paid immigration officers to expedite their passport processing are encouraged to report these incidents to the authorities.
