At least 60 local gospel musicians are set to converge for two mega music concerts to record a live video and audio, which is scheduled for November and December this year.
The concerts, organised by Ayiya Led Ltd, will be held on November 29 2025 and December 6 2025 at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe and Comesa Hall in Blantyre, respectively.
The live music recordings will later be streamed on social media. The concerts, dubbed Praise Experience, are aimed at promoting gospel music in the country as well as providing musicians with an opportunity to ear royalties.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lilongwe on Sunday, Ayiya Led Ltd Director Jones Mbera said they were set for the concerts, which will also bring gospel musicians together to showcase their talent.
Mbera said the idea for Praise Experience was inspired by South Africa’s Joyous Celebration and Spirit of Praise music groups, saying whenever they organise their shows, they do them professionally.
“This show will be happening every year. We started in 2023 and are continuing this year. In 2023, we only had four artists performing, but this year, we thought it would be great to bring in more artists,” he said.
“We have identified 32 backing vocalists for each show. We will have two sets of bands, one band covering a set of artists, while the other finishes the rest, since the show will last for about 12 hours,” Mbera added.
Maggie Mangani described the shows as opportunities for gospel musicians to showcase their talent and reach a wider audience.
“We will benefit a lot from this platform because we do not always have enough privileges. I, as an artist, cannot manage to host an event at BICC alone but, this time around, we will have a chance to perform there,” the ‘Mundiyendere’ creator said.
Other artists billed to perform at the concerts include Miracle Chinga, Great Angels Choir, King James Phiri, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Favoured Martha and Lloyd Phiri.
