TNM Super League defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets laboured to a 1-0 victory over stubborn Mafco at Kamuzu Stadium Sunday.

The result allowed the People’s Team to consolidate third position on the log table and move 12 points below leaders Silver Strikers, who have 49 points from 21 matches, one less than Bullets.

Maxwell Phodo Gasten scored the lone goal in the 15th minute to help Bullets take their tally to 37 points.

It was an open game, with Bullets having several chances.

However, they failed to turn them into goals.

Mafco had a handful of chances, especially towards the end of the second half, but they, too, lacked finishing power.

Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa bemoaned officiation.

“It was not the toughest competition. We are now playing [against] officials [referees] who are officiating the matches,” Pasuwa said.

Mafco Coach Jimmy Mzunga said they took positives from the match.

“We gave them an early goal and it was difficult to come back. We are going back to the drawing board and will rectify our mistakes,” Mzunga said.

In another match, Mzuzu City Hammers beat Kamuzu Barracks 2-0, with Chimwemwe Chunga and Akeen Abioye scoring for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos thrashed Mighty Tigers 3-0.

Edward Dakalira, Ibrahim Sadik and Lennox Kiwambe were on target for the home side.
