Cosoma walks new course

Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) said on Thursday that they would want to work hand in hand with creatives in the country not to partake in their artistry but rather to involve them in developing key messages.

The copyright body’s spokesperson Catherine Mitungwi said they have noted a huge gap in terms of copyright information among others, and that they thought of taking a different course.

Cosoma has since called for expression of interest for content creators to develop engaging and informative content that highlights the importance of copyright and its benefits to the creative industry.

“There is lack of understanding from other players with some content creators feeling we want to start creating content. We are not creating content to take over the job of content creators but we want to work with them so, that they disseminate proper information to the public,” Mitungwi said.

She said through the expression of interest for content creators that they have put out; they will select players, who will work with them developing content on issues of royalties and copyright among others.

She said that there are also other creatives, who have little knowledge of the functions of the copyright body
