The opposition United Democratic Front has backed remarks by its President Atupele Muluzi, regarding the age of former President Peter Mutharika and his interest to contest in the upcoming elections.
During his whistle-stops in the eastern region, Muluzi urged Mutharika not to pursue his political ambitions to run in the upcoming elections, citing his old age, a thing that didn’t go well with some DPP officials.
Earlier, DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba accused Muluzi on his Facebook page for his sentiments describing them as ‘coming from a frustrated politician’.
Genarino Leman, Secretary General for UDF told MIJ Online that the party fully supports what Muluzi said, saying that it is time for youths to take leadership positions.
