Illovo commits to safeguarding workers Welfare

Illovo Sugar Malawi has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a healthy and safe working environment for its employees.

This comes as the company has launched its 2025 Safety Campaign under the theme “Muvi Woyang’anira Suchedwa Kulowa Mmaso! – Actions on Time.”

During the launch event, employees paraded through the Nchalo area carrying placards promoting workplace safety and health.

The campaign focuses on two key projects: “Safety Mindset” and “Safety Resilience,” aimed at preventing accidents and promoting a safety-first culture.

In a press statement, General Manager of Illovo’s Nchalo Estate, Ricky Pillay, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to its over 13,000 employees, referring to them as “the sweetest assets.”

According to Pillay, Illovo is also investing in improving the living conditions of its workers as it has spent over one billion Malawi Kwacha renovating employee housing in the estate.
