Jappie out on bail!

Jappie out on bail!

Jappie Mhango, vice president for the Democratic Progressive Party vice president in the north has been granted bail following his arrest on Monday.

Mhango was on Tuesday afternoon brought before the chief resident magistrates court to be formally informed of crimes he is suspected to have committed.

Mhango celebrates his bail.

During bail application hearing, the state through its prosecuter Daniel Nyasulu demanded that the defense provide the precise location of Mhango’s residence as a condition for his bail.

In response, the defense through lawyer Christon Ghambi told the court that the documents being demanded by the state were not readily available but could make the same available later on.

However, Chief Resident Magistrate, Godfrey Balaka said the state failed to show the court that without the precise location of Mhango’s residence, his release on bail would jeopardize further investigations on the matter.

This far, CRM Godfrey Balaka has granted Mhango bail on condition that he pays 1 Million kwacha cash, producing two sureties valued at 500 000 kwacha each and appears before ACB every fortnight on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the state has applied for the adjournment of the case until it affects the arrest of the other two suspects.
