Ecobank has reiterated the importance of financial literacy to the economic wellbeing of Malawians.
Ecobank Malawi Head of Operations and Transformation Grace Mphepo said this during a financial literacy interaction session the bank’s officials had with students at Stella Maris Girls Secondary School in Blantyre last week.
The interaction was part of activities marking Global Money week, an annual global awareness-raising campaign to equip the youth with knowledge on finance.
Mphepo said sound financial decisions among young people were necessary for them to ultimately achieve financial wellbeing and financial resilience.
“We specifically came to Stella Maris as part of [efforts aimed at] motivating the girl child to achieve her financial dreams,” Mphepo said.
Mphepo expressed satisfaction with the rate at which people were utilising innovations in the financial sector.
Headmistress for the school, Evarista Kapwata, hailed Ecobank for the gesture.
