MDF lobbies for responsible media

The Malawi Defence Force MDF has challenged media practitioners to report responsibly, interpret events wisely and remain committed to national peace.

The call has been made at a two-day media training session on the media, electoral laws and processes underway in Lilongwe.

Speaking to MIJ Online Paul Valentino Phiri Army General for MDF called on journalists to maintain objectivity and accuracy arguing that this is key to contain tensions ahead of 16th September general elections.

Phiri: The media is an important sector.

Phiri has since affirmed their belief that the pen and the uniform must coexist—not in conflict, but in conversation to foster national peace.

Meanwhile Zacc Kawalala Vice Chairperson for Malawi Peace and Unity Commission disclosed that they are engaging stakeholders so that the country contain conflicts ahead of general elections.
