The Malawi Beach Soccer team finally left Malawi for Burundi where they face off in the 2024 Beach Soccer Afcon qualifying first leg match.
The team left through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe and flew via Nairobi, Kenya, arriving in Bujumbura.
The 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON qualifying match against Burundi, initially scheduled for Friday had been rescheduled for Monday due to logistical challenges that prevented the team from traveling on Tuesday.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) successfully negotiated the date change with the Burundi Football Federation, ensuring the team’s participation in the crucial match.
The return leg is set for next Saturday in Salima.
With the logistical hurdles resolved, the Malawi Beach Soccer team is ready to face Burundi on Monday, eager to secure a spot in the AFCON Beach Soccer tournament.
