Supreme Court of Appeal Justice, Frank Kapanda, has urged members of the private sector to take a leading role in the fight against corruption.
Kapanda said this during activities marking Anti-Corruption Day at Castel Malawi campus in Blantyre recently.
He said there was a need for every stakeholder to understand their role, such as developing company policies that resonate with the country’s legal framework.
“I am impressed with what they are doing at Castel. I would say that they are on the right path.
“Fighting corruption is not only for public institutions; it’s for all of us, the corporate world, as well as individuals,” Kapanda said.
Castel Malawi Human Resource and Corporate Affairs Director Gloria Zimba said the company had made a commitment to be part of the fight against corruption in countries it operates.
“You don’t have to wait for corruption to arise in the organisation for you to start fighting it. The best way to fight something is to talk about it before it begins,” Zimba said.
