DPP commits to unity in primary polls

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) says it is committed to promoting unity and transparency in its ongoing primary elections across the country.

The commitment comes as the party begins conducting primary elections, starting in the Southern Region, followed by the Northern and then the Central Region.

Dr. Jean Mathanga, the DPP Director of Elections, said the process began after all members were briefed on the election guidelines, which allowed candidates to campaign freely in their constituencies and encouraged people to freely choose their preferred representatives.

Mathanga said the party is working to ensure a credible election process and urged members to remain peaceful and respectful throughout the process.

She says the party is strictly following its rules, with monitoring teams and observers in place to make sure the elections are fair and all candidates have equal chances.
