During the hearing , defense lawyers argued that some disclosures from the state were not presented to them in advance, hence their request for an adjournment.

In an interview with MIJ Online, Gilbert Khonyongwa, defense lawyer for Chisale, stressed that Patrick Zaipa, a state witness from the Office of the Director of Public Officers Declarations presented documents that were not provided to them earlier.

Meanwhile, Dzikondianthu Malunda, a state lawyer, described the development as a coincidence and not intentional and he told the court that the state will ensure that all the necessary documents are available to the defense when they appear again on May 20.
