Malawi’s judiciary system is on the verge of a digital revolution, thanks to the United Nations Development Program’s (UNDP) challenge to embrace digitalization.
This call to action comes as the two-day National E-Justice Conference started in Lilongwe, under the theme “Relying on digital transformation to close the justice gap”.
Speaking to MIJ Online UNDP Malawi Resident Representative Fenella Frost expressed optimism that e-justice will become the norm, allowing everyone to access justice seamlessly.
Frost while reaffirming UNDP’s continued financial and other support believes that this is key to promoting access to justice across the country.
And on his part, Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda emphasized that substantial investments are needed to achieve this goal, crucial for the judiciary system.
Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo said the system would also lead to cost-cutting measures as courts transition to paperless operations, similar to other countries.
