A15-year-old girl identified as Enifa George has died after being struck by lightning in Balaka district.
Balaka police has disclosed that Enifa worked as a maid at a certain woman’s house at Amoni 1 Village in Traditional Authority Nsamala in the District.
According to Gladson M’bumpha spokesperson for Balaka police, the deceased met her fate on Monday, during the night of March 30, 2025.
In a statement, M’bumpha has indicated that the lightening struck the maid whilst she was asleep in the woman’s house alone.
Meanwhile, postmortem results from Balaka District Hospital revealed that death was due to electrocution, secondary to lightning.
The victim hailed from Yosefe Village in Traditional Authority Ganya in Ntcheu District.
