Lazarus Chakwera meets Nkhoma leaders

President Lazarus Chakwera Tuesday met top officials of Nkhoma Synod of the CCAP at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe, where he shared with them his plans for 2025.

Chakwera urged the leaders to pray for Malawi as the country heads to the Local Government, Parliamentary and Presidential Elections on September this year.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Presidential Adviser on Religious Affairs Brian Kamwendo said the Malawi leader assured synod leaders that he would continue being a servant leader as well as continue to unite Malawians.

Chakwera added that he would continue pursuing his promise of prospering together as well as fighting corruption.

Nkhoma Synod Moderator, Reverend Edward Masona Tembo Kaluluma, said they went to the State House to wish Chakwera well in the new year, in addition to hearing his plans and praying with him.

“The message we brought is that the nation is praying for the President. The nation and the church are also praying for good rains and bumper yield.

‘We are also asking for the mercy of God so that natural disasters will pass us [by] so that the season will go as a friendly one,” Kaluluma said.

In April 2022, Nkhoma Synod issued pastoral letter, titled ‘Kukhala Maso’, in which it faulted to Tonse Alliance administration for failing to deliver on its promises.
