
Players on the trade space have expressed mixed views on the move by the Ministry of Trade to ban importation of certain goods.
This comes as government has banned the importation of goods such as maize flour, rice, potatoes and matches as way of promoting locally made products to boost trade activities.
Nonetheless- while welcoming the move, Tennyson Mulimbula, Secretary General for Small Scale Business Operators Association of Malawi feared that the move will likely lead to prices excretion of commodities.
Meanwhile, Greenson Nyirenda an economic expert has urged authorities to provide incentives for local procedures to produce more and quality products.
