Imbibers die in Blantyre

‎Two men, identified as Vincent Chotokoma and Steven Lizzi, have died in Blantyre after consuming alcohol on an empty stomach.

‎According to Aaron Chilala Soche police spokesperson, Chotokoma, a shoe vendor, was found dead at his home after drinking without eating for two days.

‎In a statement, Chilala said Lizzi, after a quarrel with his relatives, drank alcohol in protest without food and was found dead by the road to his house.

‎Chilala has said that postmortem results indicated both deaths were due to hypoglycemia caused by drinking alcohol on an empty stomach.

‎Chotokoma was from Njowe village, Blantyre District while Lizzi hailed from Chisinga village, Kasungu District.

‎Meanwhile, Soche Police has urged the public to drink responsibly and avoid alcohol consumption on an empty stomach to prevent similar incidents.
