Environmental activists have described a recent court injunction that has halted the implementation of the ban on thin plastics as an abuse of court processes.
The sentiments follow an injunction that has been granted to 11 plastic manufacturing companies most of them belonging to Chinese and Indian nationals, preventing authorities from implementing the ban which was scheduled to start on Monday this week.
Speaking to MIJ Online, one of the environmental activists in the country Mathews Malata said government needs to explore alternative methods to make sure the ban is enforced
Another environmentalist Gloria Kamoto said it was time Malawians reflected on how the court is being used in this country as it is being used as a conduit to delay justice.
