Ecobank Malawi announced its sponsorship of the 9th Annual Bankers Lake Conference, organised by the Bankers Association of Malawi (Bam) on Thursday.
The bank pumped K5.5 million into hosting of the indaba, which started on Thursday in Mangochi.
In a statement, Ecobank Malawi Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Communications Tidzi Chalamba rated the meeting as a significant event on the financial industry calendar, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders to discuss key issues affecting the sector.
“By supporting the bankers’ annual lake conference, we are investing in the future of banking in Malawi. This conference serves as a critical platform for fostering collaboration, sharing innovative ideas and shaping policies that will drive inclusive and sustainable growth in the financial sector,” he said.
Bam Chief Operations Officer Chifundo Mmaniwa thanked the bank for the support.
“We are grateful to Ecobank Malawi for their generous contribution. Their sponsorship is a clear demonstration of their commitment to the growth and development of Malawi’s banking sector,” he said.
