Sensitization on renewable energy making progress

Various sensitization programs on utilization of renewable sources of energy have been fairing impressively, a stakeholder in the sector Renew and Able Malawi has said.

This has been said in the wake of the continued sensation exercise that the organization which focuses on renewable technologies and advocates for sustainable development of a healthy energy sector in Malawi has been carrying out.

Ntago has made the observation.

The project started in 2016 and is expected to end this year.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Kenneth Ntago Advocacy officer for Renama said they have engaged in numerous programs that are aimed at sensitizing the masses on the benefits of using energy sources that are renewable.

Ntago added that as an organization they have planted billboards across the country carrying messages on the same.

The organization has also organized a football bonanza and engaged youth groups all in an aim of sensitizing community members mostly the youth which he attributed as energetic.

Hydro electricity, fossil fuels and biomass are the most used energy sources in Malawi.

Opportunities exist in the following areas: hydro generation, solar energy, wind energy, thermal power plants, biomass stoves, biogas and renewable power generation.
