The body of deputy inspector general of the Malawi Police Service (MPS) Casper Chalera will be laid to rest Friday in his home district of Kasungu.
MPS spokesperson Peter Kalaya confirmed the development Wednesday.
“I can confirm that the body of deputy inspector general Casper Chalera will be laid to rest on Friday at his home in Matako Village, Traditional Authority Lukwa, in Kasungu,” Kalaya said.
Chalera died at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe on Tuesday night.
Kalaya described Chalera as a hard-working person who contributed to the success of MPS.
Chalera was born in 1965 and joined MPS in 1988.
During the 36 years of service, he occupied a number of positions.
