Three people have died while one sustained injuries in a road accident that occurred at Naming’azi along the Zomba-Domasi Road in Zomba Wednesday.
Zomba Police Station spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano confirmed the development, saying the accident involved a Toyota Mira and van.
“The car, which ended up having the victims, was coming from Zomba Town heading towards Songani Trading Centre while the van was coming from the Domasi direction heading towards the Zomba City direction. The vehicles collided,” Sipiliano said.
Sipiliano said she was gathering particulars of those involved in the accident at the time we went to press.
On his part, Zomba Central Hospital spokesperson Fredson Kambeni said driver of the small vehicle, Collins Potani, died on the spot while two others died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
“Those who died and sustained injuries are all males. The one who sustained a head injury and fractures is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit,” Kambeni said.
The accident occurred days after five people died in another road accident along the Zomba- Thondwe Road in the district.
